We are seeking a Food Service Assistant to join our team at Mercy Health. As a Food Service Assistant, you will create cherished moments each day by assisting in the preparation and serving of meals to residents, ensuring that dietary needs and preferences are met.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals to residents, ensuring that dietary needs and preferences are met.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations, ensuring cleanliness and proper food handling practices in kitchen and dining areas.
  • Help residents who require assistance with eating, offering support as necessary to ensure their comfort.
  • Observe and record the food and fluid intake of residents, reporting any concerns to nursing staff.
What you'll bring
  • Experience in a food service role, preferably in an aged care or healthcare setting, is highly desirable.
  • A valid food safety handling certificate
  • Knowledge of common dietary restrictions (e.g., gluten-free, diabetic, low-sodium) and how to accommodate these when preparing meals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, and family members, demonstrating empathy and respect for elderly residents.
