Job summary

Alfred Health is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the flowcytometry section of the haematology department at The Alfred Hospital. The role involves processing specimens per established procedures under supervision and working as part of a team to ensure high-quality, timely reports.

You may also take on duties such as day-to-day equipment maintenance, reagent preparation, and stocktaking as required, with opportunities to grow within a comprehensive pathology service.

Qualifications

• Formal education relevant to the position
• Sound knowledge of flowcytometry and its practical applications
• Ability to set up and perform flowcytometry on blood, tissue, bone marrow and fluids independently
• Ability to work within a team and demonstrate effective communication skills
• Proven ability to perform flowcytometry setup and processing
• Sound knowledge of clinical haematology and its practical applications in flowcytometry
• Sound knowledge of recent advances in flowcytometry
• Sound knowledge of laboratory haematology and its inter-relationship with flowcytometry
