Job summary

Apprise Consulting Ltd in Mackay is seeking skilled Floor Finishers to join our cabinet and flooring team. This permanent, full-time role focuses on installing diverse floor coverings, measuring accurately, and prepping surfaces.

You’ll work with timber, vinyl, and other materials, applying finishes and ensuring precise fit and quality. We value trade qualifications, safety awareness, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified tradesperson with relevant cabinet/flooring experience.
• Experience using a wide range of hand and power tools.
• Solid attention to detail and ability to quality-check work.
• Ability to work independently or in a team on tasks.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents.
• Physically fit for lifting and handling heavy materials.
• Clear communication and reliable reporting of progress.
• Strong work ethic and punctual, reliable performance.

Responsibilities

• Reading plans and project instructions to guide work.
• Measuring areas to estimate quantities of flooring materials.
• Preparing surfaces and removing baseboard trims as needed.
• Removing existing flooring and disposing of waste material.
• Preparing surfaces with adhesive or grout as required.
• Measuring, cutting and fitting underlay materials.
• Laying coverings (wood, carpet, linoleum, parquetry, cork).
• Securing coverings and fitting edge trims at doorways.
• Sanding, staining and finishing timber floors as required.
• Completing installation with appropriate finishes.
• May install additional wall, ceiling or bench coverings.
• Managing stock of components and parts.
• Maintaining quality control across finished work.
• Ensuring a safe workplace and clean warehouse areas.
• Adhering to company protocols and safety standards.

We are seeking highly skilled Floor Finishers to join our team of dedicated professionals.

Responsibilities

The role includes but is not limited to: Reading plans and instructions of specific projects

Measuring areas to be covered and consulting plans to estimate quantities of floor covering materials required Preparing surfaces for covering and removing baseboard trims Removing existing flooring and discarding of this material, if applicable

Clearing the work surface from dust, debris, and obstructions Preparing the work surface by applying adhesive, grouting, or other appropriate materials Measuring, cutting and fixing underlay materials

Laying coverings, such as wood, carpets, linoleum, parquetry blocks, cork tiles and other resilient flooring materials, over floors, matching patterns, cutting shapes around fixtures and trimming edges Securing floor coverings and fitting edge trims in doorways Sanding, staining and applying finishing coatings to timber floors

Completing the installation by applying appropriate finishes May install wall, ceiling, counter and bench coverings Managing stock of components parts

Managing quality control of all products Ensure safe workplace, general warehouse upkeep Strict compliance with company protocols and consistent observance of established safety standards

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have the following: Trade qualified Knowledge in operating wide range of hand tools and power tools

Strong attention to detail and the ability to conduct quality checks on completed work Ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete assigned tasks Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace

Physically fit and able to lift large, heavy equipment and materials Strong communication skills Excellent reporting skills

Self-motivated, organised, punctual and reliable Must have great work ethics

Salary: Between $75,000 and $85,000 per annum + Super
