Job summary

Mission Australia in Bega is seeking a Peer Worker to support people experiencing gambling harm, drawing on lived experience to foster recovery and connection. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and deliver practical strategies to help clients access GambleAware services.

Based in Bega with travel to Cooma, you will complete case notes, maintain compassionate engagement, and contribute to community connections. A NSW driver’s licence and suitability checks are required.

Qualifications

• Lived experience of the impacts of gambling harm and recovery.
• Ability to share experiences to inspire hope and build trust.
• Active listening and rapport-building with clients.
• Maintaining organized records and managing case notes.
• Be adaptable and prepared to work in a changing environment.
• Understand self-care is important for supporting others.
• Cert IV in Community Services or Mental Health or willingness to obtain.
• Current NSW driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Supporting easy access for people to the GambleAware Service through lived experience perspective.
• Being part of the GambleAware team and provide support to individuals/groups.
• Supporting our Community Coordinator to build community connections.
• Sharing your personal experience of recovery from gambling harm.
• Completing a range of administrative tasks such as case notes and reports.
