Job summary

The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport in Perth seeks a Director Financial Accounting to lead financial accounting and statutory reporting for the Department and associated authorities.

You will report to the Chief Finance Officer, provide expert accounting advice, oversee finance systems (TechnologyOne) and drive governance, controls and continuous improvement across financial processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level qualification in finance, accounting or related discipline and current membership of an Australian accounting organisation.
• Extensive experience with financial management systems and data analysis.
• Experience applying accounting standards, legislation and frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement with senior managers and senior decision making.
• Significant experience in leading and managing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of financial accounting and statutory reporting for the Department and nominated Statutory Authorities.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, Treasurer's Instructions and Australian Accounting Standards.
• Provide expert advice on complex accounting and financial reporting matters.
• Oversee Finance Systems, including TechnologyOne administration and optimisation.
• Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement in governance and controls.
