Job summary

St Vincent de Paul Society (NSW) is seeking a Community Development Coordinator in Mittagong to strengthen local connections and support place-based, person-led practice. You will partner with teams, community leaders and organisations to amplify voices and enable community-led solutions.

This newly created role offers collaboration, inclusion, and opportunities to influence systems change while delivering real community outcomes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in community development, social work or related field.
• Experience delivering programs, events or educational activities in community settings.
• Ability to work with individuals experiencing homelessness, trauma, mental health issues, or unemployment.
• A strengths-based, trauma-informed approach with de-escalation skills.
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative and communication abilities.
• Excellent organization, time management and prioritization.
• Proficiency with reporting and digital tools.
• Ability to assist with outreach setup (tables, chairs, supplies).
• Valid NSW Driver Licence and Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, deliver and facilitate community outreach programs.
• Collaborate with homelessness, housing and health services to create inclusive environments.
• Strengthen partnerships and expand support networks.
• Assess needs during outreach and provide information and referrals.
• Promote participation and inclusivity among People We Assist (PWA).
• Set up and manage logistics for pop-up outreach activities.
• Maintain records and data to support program evaluation and improvement.
• Uphold health and safety for participants, volunteers and staff.
