JD Refrigerated Transport in Archerfield, QLD is seeking a hands-on Fleet Maintenance Technician to service heavy vehicles and trailers, keep equipment on the road and reduce downtime.

This salaried role runs Monday to Friday, with paid after-hours call-outs. The ideal candidate has proven mechanical experience with heavy vehicles or trailers, can prioritise maintenance tasks independently and maintain safety as a priority.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out preventative maintenance, servicing and inspections on trailers and associated equipment.
• Diagnosing and rectifying defects, completing minor repairs and maintaining refrigeration units and tailgates within your capabilities.
• Undertaking approved minor truck repairs and providing breakdown support.
• Working with Drivers, Operations and the Fleet Manager to prioritise maintenance needs.
• Coordinating external repairs/servicing where required and maintaining accurate service records.
• Identifying practical ways to improve fleet reliability and reduce downtime.

About the Opportunity

Are you a hands-on mechanical problem-solver who enjoys variety, working independently and keeping equipment on the road?

JD Refrigerated Transport, a family-owned refrigerated transport business, is looking for a practical and proactive Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our team.

Working closely with our Fleet Manager, you'll play a key role in maintaining our refrigerated trailer fleet, rectifying defects, reducing downtime and keeping our operations moving.

What You'll Be Doing

Carrying out preventative maintenance, servicing and inspections on trailers and associated equipment.

Diagnosing and rectifying defects, completing minor repairs and maintaining refrigeration units and tailgates within your capabilities.

Undertaking approved minor truck repairs and providing breakdown support.

Working with Drivers, Operations and the Fleet Manager to prioritise maintenance needs.

Coordinating external repairs/servicing where required and maintaining accurate service records.

Identifying practical ways to improve fleet reliability and reduce downtime.

What We're Looking For

Proven mechanical experience with heavy vehicles, trailers or commercial transport equipment.

Strong fault-finding, servicing and repair skills.

Ability to work independently, manage priorities and take ownership of tasks.

A safety-focused, reliable and proactive approach.

Current driver's licence appropriate to the role.

Highly regarded: Heavy Vehicle Mechanic qualification, HR/HC licence, experience with refrigerated trailers, tailgates, braking, air or electrical systems.

Formal trade qualifications are valued, but demonstrated mechanical experience and hands-on ability are equally important.

Paid after-hours call-outs: Minimum 4 hours' payment per separate call-out at 1.5 times your ordinary flat hourly rate.
