Job summary

Transdev Capalaba is seeking a proactive Trades Assistant to support the Asset Maintenance Team across mechanical, infrastructure, panel, and cleaning tasks in Capalaba, Brisbane's eastern suburbs.

You will prepare vehicles and parts, assist trades staff under supervision, report safety concerns, and help with depot and building maintenance. A positive, safety-focused attitude and the ability to work with others are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a workshop, transport, or industrial environment.
• Medium Rigid licence (MR) or ability to obtain it; training provided.
• Forklift licence or ability to obtain it.
• Safety focused and able to follow instructions under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support routine and non-routine asset, fleet, depot, and infrastructure maintenance activities.
• Prepare vehicles, components, tools, and work areas for maintenance and inspection tasks.
• Assist trades staff with inspections, component handling, installation, and removal under supervision.
• Identify, report, and elevate defects, damage, and safety concerns.
• Maintain fleet presentation through cleaning (engine bay, under body, etc.).
• Assist with depot, workshop, and building maintenance, including basic repairs.
• Support breakdown response activities and service changeovers to maintain operations.
• Collect, deliver, and manage parts, materials, and equipment as required.
• Transport fleet vehicles to and from suppliers and external contractors.

We are seeking a proactive and team-oriented Trades Assistant to join our Asset Maintenance Team in Capalaba on a permanent, full-time basis.Capalaba is a suburb located in the Redland City area, about 20-25 km east-southeast of Brisbane CBD with a typical travel time of around 35 minutes by car. The Trades Assistant plays a key support role within the Asset Maintenance Team by assisting tradespeople across mechanical, infrastructure, panel, and cleaning functions to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance of the bus fleet and our Depot.

What you’ll do

• Maintain fleet presentation through internal, external, engine bay, and under body cleaning
• Assist with depot, workshop, and building maintenance, including cleaning and basic repairs
• Support breakdown response activities and service changeovers to maintain operational continuity
• Collect, deliver, and manage parts, materials, and equipment as required
• Transport fleet vehicles to and from suppliers and external contractors
• Assist with fleet movements to support asset availability
• Provide flexible, team based support across the Asset Maintenance function to meet operational needs

What you bring

• Previous experience in a workshop, transport, or industrial environment
• Medium Rigid licence or the ability to obtain it. We'll provide the training!
• Forklift licence or the ability to obtain it
• A positive, reliable, and safety focused approach
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision
• Willingness to support a wide range of tasks in a workshop and depot environment
• Good communication skills and a team focused attitude
