Job summary

Evolve Scientific in Melbourne’s inner west is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Fitter to service and maintain our fleet, including vac trucks and high-pressure water equipment. You will operate across workshop and fieldwork, with a focus on safety, quality, and timely completion of planned and unplanned maintenance.

The role suits self-motivated individuals who work well independently or as part of a team, with rebuilds, pump work, toolmaking and welding experience highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Fitter is required.
• Pre-employment medical will be conducted after interview.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
• Rebuilding pumps, toolmaking and welding experience is highly regarded.
• Able to think creatively to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and servicing on vac trucks and HPW equipment.
• Rebuild pumps; perform toolmaking and welding as required.
• Assist with chemical cleaning project work and shutdowns.
• Support shutdowns; role may be hybrid across workshop and fieldwork.
• Maintain an organised list of maintenance tasks and records.
• Be the sole/primary operator for maintaining specific equipment types.

This role is based in Melbourne’s inner west.

About the role

A hands-on, maintenance-based Fitter role covering in-house servicing of fleet requirements, including vac trucks and HPW (high pressure water) equipment. The right person will be self-motivated, work well independently as well as part of a team, and bring a good attitude to the role.
This role sits within the mechanical space and involves assisting the chemical cleaning business, including mobilisation for shutdowns and process work.

Days: Monday- Friday

Hours: 7:00am -3:30pm

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and servicing on vac trucks and HPW equipment
• Rebuild pumps; toolmaking and welding work as required
• Go out with the team on chemical cleaning project work
• Support shutdowns; role may be hybrid across workshop and fieldwork
• Work through maintenance records systematically, maintaining an organised list of tasks
• Be the sole/primary operator responsible for maintaining specific equipment types
