Job summary

Newmont's Tanami operation in the Northern Territory seeks a qualified Heavy Commercial Vehicle Fitter to maintain a fleet of buses, trucks, trailers and heavy plant equipment. This onsite role offers a fly-in, fly-out roster and presents opportunities to work on a wide range of vehicle assets in a remote mining setting.

You will contribute to fleet reliability, safety and continuous improvement while operating in a demanding, team‑oriented environment that values safety and mutual respect.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Commercial Vehicle Fitter (Certificate III).
• Current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver's licence.
• Forklift ticket and ability to operate site equipment.
• Experience maintaining buses, trucks, trailers and heavy plant equipment.
• Post-trade or light vehicle experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair site buses, trucks, trailers, forklifts and heavy plant equipment.
• Support the reliability and availability of the site's bus fleet.
• Perform maintenance on light vehicles and ancillary equipment as required.
• Operate and work with a diverse range of commercial and heavy vehicle equipment.
• Contribute to safe work practices across operational environments.

Your impact

As aFitter, Light Vehicles, you'll maintain and support a range of light and heavy vehicles and equipment, helping ensure operational reliability across the site fleet. You'll contribute to the safe and effective operation of buses, trucks, trailers, forklifts and ancillary equipment

As part of our team you will

• Maintain and repair site buses, trucks, trailers, forklifts and heavy plant equipment.
• Support the reliability and availability of the site's bus fleet as a primary responsibility.
• Perform maintenance on light vehicles and ancillary equipment as required.
• Operate and work with a diverse range of commercial and heavy vehicle equipment.
• Contribute to safe work practices while working across operational environments.

Prerequisites for your success in the role

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Commercial Vehicle Fitter (Certificate III Heavy Commercial Vehicle).
• Current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver's licence.
• Forklift ticket.
• Experience working on buses, trucks, trailers, forklifts and heavy plant equipment.
• Some post-trade experience and light vehicle mechanical experience are desirable

Your work environment

This permanent position is offered on a 8 days on 6 days off basis and is based at Newmont's Tanami operation in the Northern Territory.

As a fly-in, fly-out operation, Tanami provides modern camp accommodation and facilities while on site. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams supporting one of Australia's premier underground gold mining operations.
