Job summary

Biro Strategy in Central West NSW seeks a qualified Fitter (General) to join our maintenance team at a processing facility. You will keep heavy, water- and chemical-intensive processing machinery running, working in a wet, corrosive environment. Salary: Starting at $83,644 per year plus superannuation, with shift allowances and overtime paid in addition.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade / Fitting and Machining) or an equivalent recognised trade qualification.
• At least one year of post-qualification maintenance fitting experience, ideally in processing or heavy industry.
• Able to read drawings and schematics and diagnose mechanical faults.
• A valid Australian driver's licence and the ability to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, planned and breakdown maintenance on processing drums, mixers, cutting and drying machinery and conveyors
• Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, motors, gearboxes and bearings
• Fit, assemble and align parts and sub-assemblies using precision measuring instruments
• Fabricate, modify and machine replacement parts using workshop tooling
• Attend breakdowns on shift and contribute to reliability improvements
• Apply lock-out/tag-out, confined-space and working-at-heights procedures
