Job summary

MAS Carpentry & Construction Pty Ltd, Canberra-based, is seeking a motivated First Year Apprentice Carpenter to join our team and start a long-term career in residential construction.

You’ll work with experienced carpenters on residential projects, gain hands-on skills in framing, timber finishes and reading plans, and complete your apprenticeship with on-the-job training.

We provide a full-time apprenticeship, supportive team, and opportunities for progression in a friendly work environment.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in carpentry or willingness to learn on-the-job.
• Reliability, punctuality and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work outdoors and safely with ladders/scaffolding.

Responsibilities

• Assist with framing, fixing and general carpentry tasks.
• Install windows, doors, skirting, architraves and timber finishes.
• Learn to read plans and use hand and power tools safely.
• Maintain a clean and safe worksite.
• Work as part of a supportive team while completing apprenticeship.

About the Role

As an apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience in all aspects of residential carpentry, including:

• Assisting with framing, fixing and general carpentry tasks
• Installing windows, doors, skirting, architraves and other timber finishes
• Learning to read plans and use hand and power tools safely
• Maintaining a clean and safe worksite
• Working as part of a supportive team while completing your formal apprenticeship training

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

• Keen to learn and build a career in carpentry
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking
• Able to follow instructions and work well in a team
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
• Comfortable working at heights from ladders and scaffolding (this is a regular part of the role)
• Committed to producing quality work
• Driver's licence preferred
