Job summary

Saltbush Social Enterprises in Darwin is seeking a trainer to deliver engaging, culturally relevant training, mentor learners and help develop learning resources across Saltbush programs.

You will work with our RTO team to ensure practical and engaging learning, while supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to achieve employment outcomes. This is a permanent, full-time role with salary packaging and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• First Nations person with cultural knowledge and commitment to inspire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to mentor and support others in the workplace.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, training support, community services or a similar area.
• Ability to build trust and create culturally safe learning environments.
• Willing to complete required certifications and training as part of the role.

You don't need to have followed a traditional training pathway to be successful in this role. If you have experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, mentoring, supporting employment pathways, facilitating groups, developing resources or sharing knowledge in community, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role:

Reporting to the RTO Manager, you will play an important role in delivering training, mentoring learners and developing culturally relevant learning resources. You will work closely with our RTO and program teams to ensure our training is practical, engaging and relevant to the communities we work with.

This role provides an opportunity to:

• Deliver engaging, culturally safe and strengths-based training
• Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners throughout their training journey
• Develop, review and adapt culturally relevant training and learning resources
• Use your cultural knowledge and community experience to strengthen training delivery
• Support learners to build confidence, capability and employment skills
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of training programs
• Work with employers, communities and stakeholders to understand workforce needs
• Build your own capability as a Trainer and workforce development professional
• Maintain accurate learner and training records
• Travel to regional and remote communities when required

You'll have the opportunity to help shape how Saltbush delivers training by developing and adapting resources that reflect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, community contexts and the real experiences of learners.

About You:

This role is designed for a First Nations person who brings cultural knowledge, community connection and a genuine passion for supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to succeed.

You may come from a training, employment services, mentoring, community services, education, workforce development or similar background. Most importantly, you will bring the ability to build trust, share knowledge and create culturally safe learning environments.

• Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, with cultural knowledge and commitment to inspire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to mentor and support others in the workplace.
• Is willing to complete the 11055NAT Course in Mentoring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Workforce Mentors.
• Has experience in mentoring, coaching, training support, community services, employment services or a similar area.
• Is confident engaging with people and sharing knowledge in a culturally safe and strengths-based way.
• Builds strong relationships and communicates well with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Enjoys working independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Currently holds or is working towards a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
• Experience delivering accredited training or working within an RTO is highly regarded but not essential.

Employment Requirements:

• Valid Driver Licence
• Current First Aid Certificate
