Job summary

Maxima’s traineeship opportunity in Sydney NSW offers hands-on accounting experience within a supportive finance team. As a Trainee Accountant, you’ll handle transactional accounting, build practical finance capability through guided work, and participate in remediation and improvement projects.

Under mentorship, you’ll process invoices, support accounts payable/receivable, assist with month-end, and contribute to data cleansing and process improvements while maintaining audit-ready records.

Qualifications

• TAFE-level qualification in accounting, bookkeeping, business or related discipline (completed or in progress)
• Strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite
• Previous exposure to financial services through study, work placement, administration, customer service or a finance environment is desirable (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Process invoices, payments, refunds and other routine finance transactions accurately and within required timeframes.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking activities and employee expense processing.
• Complete data entry, account maintenance and transaction matching while maintaining accurate financial records.
• Respond to finance enquiries and monitor shared team mailboxes, escalating complex matters as required.
• Prepare routine reconciliations and investigate outstanding items to support financial accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with month-end activities, including report preparation, journal uploads and supporting documentation.
• Contribute to remediation, data cleansing and process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate workpapers, records and trackers to ensure activities are traceable and audit-ready.
