Job summary

Children’s Ground is seeking a part-time First Nations Research & Evaluation Officer in Central Australia. You’ll work with the R&E Team to support monitoring and community-led evaluation, ensuring data sovereignty and respectful data use by First Nations communities.

You will help collect, analyse and share stories and data, building local research capability and contributing to long-term learning and accountability under the Children’s Ground approach.

Qualifications

• Identified First Nations/Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander position
• Experience working with First Nations communities in a culturally appropriate and respectful way
• Understanding of community-led approaches to research, evaluation and decision-making
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and explain findings
• Ability to handle sensitive information with care and protect privacy
• Experience identifying themes and insights from qualitative and quantitative data

Responsibilities

• Engage with First Nations families and communities about research and evaluation and explain data collection methods
• Build R&E knowledge skills in western evaluation practices with First Nations staff and families
• Support communities to own data collection, analysis, reporting and evaluations
• Promote community understanding of data collection, use and reporting by Children’s Ground
• Facilitate discussions about purpose and value of data collected through programs
• Ensure cultural protocols shape data collection and reporting activities
