Job summary

North West Hospital and Health Service is seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner to provide high quality, culturally responsive care to women and families during pregnancy.

You will work with midwives and a multidisciplinary team across antenatal settings, supporting informed health choices and holistic care, including connections with communities and partners.

Qualifications

• Must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person as a genuine occupational requirement.
• Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) or Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health.
• Current registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner (ATSIHPBA).
• C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
• Pre-employment screening including Criminal History checks.
• Vaccination or immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clinical care across antenatal assessments, health checks, education, referrals, care planning and follow-up.
• Support women and families to make informed health choices with culturally appropriate information and holistic support.
• Collaborate with local communities, Aboriginal Medical Services and health partners to improve outcomes.
