Job summary

TELUS Health invites a First Nations Clinician (Social Worker, Psychologist or Counsellor) to join our team in Canberra under hybrid arrangements. The role centres on culturally sensitive mental health support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and organisations with First Nations staff.

The ideal candidate has a background in counselling or psychology, professional registration, and at least three years of experience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience providing mental health and well-being support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
• Strong understanding of cultural, historical and community factors influencing First Nations mental health.
• Registration with AHPRA, AASW, ACA, or PACFA.

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term counselling to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
• Offer culturally informed guidance to organisations to improve workplace mental health.
• Lead group sessions and training on mental health and cultural competency.
• Assist in designing and delivering educational training packages.
• Ensure culturally sensitive services for Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people.
• Travel within the state and interstate as required.
• Manage clinical risk and client presentations within a short-term framework.
• Collaborate with colleagues and access supervision.
