Job summary

West Moreton Health is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing across Ipswich and surrounding communities.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to provide culturally informed care, strengthen partnerships with First Nations communities, and contribute to social and emotional wellbeing initiatives in our public health settings.

Qualifications

• Mandatory vaccination against specified diseases as outlined in Health directive NO. 01/16
• Successfully completed Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Certificate IV in Mental Health or Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs or Diploma in related field
• Applicants may apply if willing to complete required qualifications within an agreed timeframe with full financial and leave support to complete the qualification(s)

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

• High level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills and ability to develop effective partnerships within the Health Service and external stakeholders.
• Cultural lived experience and understanding of the cultural factors and histories that affect the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
• Ability to provide effective cultural support to First Nations peoples accessing community mental health and alcohol and other drugs services.
• Ability to support multidisciplinary teams to improve their understanding of the Social, Emotional and Well-Being needs of First Nations consumers.

Mandatory Requirements

• Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
• Successfully completed Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Certificate IV in Mental Health or Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs and/or Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Diploma of Mental Health or a Diploma of Alcohol and Drugs.
• Applicants who do not hold the mandatory qualification requirements, but believe they have the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the role as outlined, and will commit to completing the qualification(s) within an agreed timeframe if appointed, are encouraged to apply for this vacancy. Should the applicant be successful, employment will be at the no qualification paypoint until evidence of completion of the required qualification(s) is provided. Full financial and leave support will be provided to complete the qualification(s).
