Job summary

Oceania Consultants (Group Pty) Ltd, a multidisciplinary consultancy with a strong focus on fire safety, seeks a Senior/Intermediate Fire Technician/Engineer based in Brisbane, QLD. The role involves site visits, fire reports, risk assessments, and client consultations to develop performance-based fire safety strategies.

You will work independently and as part of a team, transitioning from a home-based arrangement to an office-based position once the Brisbane office is established.

Qualifications

• Must have strong communication and project management skills.
• Basic knowledge of NCC/BCA, Australian Standards, and local fire safety legislation.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Knowledge of fire protection, process safety, or risk engineering is beneficial.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Preferably, a degree in Fire Safety, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
• Experience in the construction and consultancy sectors is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality fire safety engineering services across a wide variety of building projects.
• Prepare performance-based fire safety design documentation, including performance solutions and declarations.
• Conduct site inspections during and after construction.
• Review architectural and services documentation for BCA compliance.
• Engage with clients, design teams, and approval authorities to support design outcomes.
• Perform fire engineering analysis including smoke, egress, and evacuation modelling.
• Travel to sites across Australia, New Zealand or Asia-Pacific.
• Coordinate with clients and stakeholders.
