Job summary

Macquarie Bank Limited is seeking a Financial Market Surveillance Data Analyst to translate business needs into technical data solutions and to support data-driven decision making within the Risk Management Group. You will work with stakeholders across business, architecture, and governance teams to ensure data capabilities align with strategic objectives while leveraging market data and lifecycle events.

You will lead data analysis, model data flows, and collaborate on cross-functional programs

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a business/data/technical analyst or similar, preferably in Banking/Financial services or Consulting
  • Experience leading requirements gathering, data analysis and data design, with risk management awareness
  • Experience with data platforms and analytical tools; SQL skills are advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact to translate business requirements into technical data solutions on strategic programs
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand needs and extract insights from multiple sources

Financial Market Surveillance Data Analyst

Our Data Delivery team within the Risk Management Group works alongside business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and governance team members and play a key role in data analysis, data/business requirements documentation, provide conceptual data solutions and facilitate effective data pipeline delivery leveraging the latest technologies and platforms. In your role as a Data Analyst, you will be the main point of contact with helping translate business requirements into technical data solutions on strategic programs, ensuring these capabilities are within strategic guardrails and aligned to our Group wide business and technology objectives. You will collaborate with business stakeholders and work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their needs and solicit data insights utilising our technologies to extract, manipulate, and analyse data from various sources. In addition, define and deliver on data solution designs and create conceptual and logical data models to facilitate technical developments and enhancements to Macquarie’s data ecosystem. You will also use your strong understanding of financial markets, products and its lifecycle events to help the gap between surveillance risk processes and how data plays a role into those processes.

  • 5+ years’ of experience working as a business/data/technical analyst ideally within Banking and Financial services or a Consulting firm
  • Experience with leading the requirements gathering, data analysis and data design which may include process mapping and adhering to risk management principles
  • Experienced working with data platforms and analytical technologies such as Starbust Presto, Alteryx and Dataiku. SQL skills to extract the data and perform data analysis is advantageous
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships
  • Strategic mindset and ability to communicate a technical vision driven by business concepts
  • Good knowledge and understanding of financial products, trading or market data platforms would be beneficial
  • Prior experience working in a Fraud or Trade Surveillance environment within financial services would be advantageous.
