Job summary

Hooker and Heijden - Insurance and Underwriting Recruitment – Brisbane QLD is seeking an Underwriter to join the Financial Lines team with a focus on Professional Indemnity. This is for junior to lower-mid level underwriters who can take on responsibility and interact directly with brokers.

In this role you will assess risks, prepare quotations, renewals and endorsements, and develop broker relationships across Australia while gradually increasing your underwriting authority within a growing

Qualifications

• Some experience in Financial Lines or Professional Indemnity insurance.
• Experience assessing risks and preparing quotations or renewals.
• Understanding of underwriting principles, pricing, and policy coverage.
• Confidence negotiating with brokers.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Interested in developing a career in specialist underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Assessing and underwriting Professional Indemnity and Financial Lines risks.
• Preparing quotations, renewals and endorsements within authority.
• Reviewing submissions and assessing risk exposures.
• Negotiating terms, conditions and pricing with brokers.
• Managing new business opportunities and renewals.
• Developing broker relationships across the Australian market.
• Working toward portfolio growth, retention and profitability.
• Refering more complex risks to senior underwriters where appropriate.
• Continuing to develop underwriting knowledge and authority.
