Description

About us

We are Argon & Co, a global management consultancy that specialises in operations strategy and transformation. Our expertise spans manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, logistics, warehouse automation and distribution network optimisation. We work together with clients to transform their businesses and generate real change.

We foster an inclusive culture driven by the diversity of our employees and a flat management structure that encourages collaboration and contribution from the whole team.

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our APAC Finance team and work closely with the CFO APAC, Partners, Finance Operations Lead and business stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand. Based in either Sydney or Melbourne, you will help deliver reliable financial reporting, strong financial controls and commercially relevant insight across the region.

This is an opportunity for a finance professional with around two to four years of experience to take ownership of core finance activities in a growing global consultancy. You’ll be involved in month-end close, financial statements, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, tax and statutory reporting, audit support, cashflow management and commercial analysis, while contributing to process improvements and better decision-making across APAC.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including the Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements, and support Group and local management reporting across APAC.
  • Coordinate month-end close activities for specified practices, including journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions and other adjustments, ensuring close is completed within five to seven business days.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and support effective financial controls and audit trails.
  • Analyse financial performance and provide clear commentary on Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet variances, trends, key drivers, practice and project profitability, revenue and cost performance.
  • Support budgets and monthly reforecasts, sales pipeline visibility, forecast accuracy and cashflow analysis, working with Partners and stakeholders to improve commercial decision-making.
  • Support tax and statutory obligations, including BAS, payroll tax, PAYG and IRD requirements, annual and external audits, finance process improvements, reporting initiatives and special projects.

What you will need to succeed

We are looking for a self-starter who combines strong financial accounting discipline with commercial curiosity, sound judgement and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders. Ideally, you will bring:

  • A degree in finance, accounting, business or a related discipline; a CA or CPA qualification is desirable.
  • Approximately two to four years of experience in financial accounting, financial analysis or a comparable role, with exposure to month-end and year-end close activities.
  • A strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and accounting principles.
  • Experience supporting tax, statutory compliance and audit activities, with exposure to BAS, payroll tax, PAYG, IRD or other APAC obligations advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting or ERP systems, preferably NetSuite; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage multiple priorities and translate analysis into practical insights.

Please notice candidates must have permanent full working rights in Australia.
