Job summary

Wesfarmers Health is seeking an experienced Financial Accounting Manager to join our Group Finance team in Australia. You will lead the Financial Accounting function, ensuring accurate financial outcomes, strong controls, and adherence to reporting obligations across onshore and offshore teams.

You will oversee core accounting activities (fixed assets, leases, inventory), provide technical leadership, and partner with Commercial Finance, Tax and business units to deliver insightful financial

• Extensive experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting within a large corporate/listed company or Big 4 environment.
• Ability to lead lean teams and oversee broad financial activities.
• Strong communication skills and financial modelling experience.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Accounting Manager to join our Group Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Control, you will lead the Financial Accounting function, providing financial leadership, governance and technical expertise to support the delivery of accurate financial outcomes, a strong control environment, and strategic business objectives across Wesfarmers Health.

Leading a high-performing onshore and offshore team, you will play a key role in strengthening financial processes, supporting business growth and transformation initiatives, and ensuring the organisation meets its statutory, regulatory and reporting obligations.

Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead, develop and retain a high-performing Financial Accounting team, fostering a positive and inclusive culture while providing direction to meet all Wesfarmers and statutory reporting requirements
• Manage the month-end and year-end financial reporting process, including the completion and review of financial reconciliations, balance sheet substantiation, journals and reporting to Wesfarmers Group within agreed timelines
• Oversee core financial accounting activities, including fixed assets, leases, intangible assets, inventory valuation and provisions, doubtful debt provisioning, sales and commercial income streams, expense management and tax effect accounting
• Provide technical accounting leadership and commercial support, partnering with Commercial Finance, Tax and broader business teams to deliver financial insights, advise on accounting treatments, and ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards
• Manage the integrity of financial systems, controls and governance, including general ledger oversight, system access controls, internal audit actions, financial accounting policies and compliance requirements
• Drive process improvement, automation and business transformation initiatives, identifying opportunities to optimise finance processes, improve reporting efficiency and establish scalable business practices
• Lead statutory reporting, external audit and M&A support activities, including consolidated reporting, Half-Year and Annual disclosures, impairment assessments, audit management, acquisition accounting and financial due diligence support

What you’ll bring:

• Extensive experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting and financial control within a large corporate, listed company and/or Big 4 environment
• Ability to operate in a lean environment, with broad and dynamic activities and responsibility scope
• Extensive experience in management accounting
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy paramount
• Advanced Excel and extensive financial modelling experience with large and multiple data sources
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with large ERP and reporting systems such as SAP, OneStream, Power BI or similar platforms
• CA or CPA qualification
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business or Accounting
