Macquarie Health Corporation is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Financial Accountant (Statutory focus) to join the Corporate Accounting Team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will be a senior member of the corporate accounting team.

You will have end to end responsibility for driving month end (period end) and year-end Balance Sheet (GL) Reconciliation and statutory financial reporting and control, ensuring balance sheet integrity and overall assistance

Qualifications

• CA/CPA qualified and experienced in statutory reporting and tax effect accounting.
• Experience with consolidation and intercompany reconciliations.
• ERP experience and strong written and verbal communication.
• Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end responsibility for month-end and year-end Balance Sheet reconciliations and statutory reporting.
• Lead the preparation of statutory financial statements and regulatory returns.
• Coordinate year-end audit processes with external auditors.
• Provide fact-based recommendations to improve reporting and GL practices.
• Collaborate with hospital admin, finance managers and other stakeholders.

Macquarie Health Corporation is a leading operator of private hospitals in Australia. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Financial Accountant (Statutory focus) to join the Corporate Accounting Team on a permanent basis.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a fantastic opportunity to assume a leadership role in a progressive organisation. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will be a senior member of the corporate accounting team. You will have end to end responsibility for driving month end (period end) and year-end Balance Sheet (GL) Reconciliation and statutory financial reporting and control, ensuring balance sheet integrity and overall assistance with the group accounting and reporting function.

DUTIES

You will work with a variety of stakeholders, including the hospital admin and finance managers, external auditors, corporate managers, directors and other business unit managers. You will play a pivotal role in delivering the Group’s Statutory Financial Statements (annual and half year) and related Statutory & Regulatory returns.

Specific duties include:

• Preparation of the group statutory accounts ensuring compliance with all the accounting standards and statutory, professional and legislative requirements
• Performing full balance sheet reconciliation and prepare Special/General Purpose Financial Reports for various entities.
• Reviewing and resolving balance sheet reconciliation and reporting issues, and ongoing maintenance of the group chart of accounts.
• Assisting with lease accounting (AASB16) for group of entities and preparation of tax effect accounting for the individual and head company.
• Manage the coordination of the year end audit process
• Providing fact-based recommendations for improvement in reporting, accounting and general ledger practices.

KEY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

• CA/CPA qualified with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a chartered accounting firm.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience with statutory reporting, audit, income tax and tax effect accounting
• Previous experience in consolidation and intercompany reconciliations.
• Previous ERP experience, advanced technical and accounting skills are essential along with strong written and verbal communication coupled with good commercial acumen.
• Self-motivated and has the ability to take responsibility for deliverables and work to deadlines.
