Job summary

u&u Recruitment Partners seeks an experienced Financial Accountant for the Financial Services team in Yeppoon. This temporary role starts ASAP for an initial 6 months with potential extension to 30 June 2027, working 38 hours per week at an hourly rate of $67 to $78 plus super (negotiable).

You will contribute to financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, governance, and business partnering, with exposure to taxation, financial systems and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in financial accounting, including financial reporting and budgeting.
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships with managers and stakeholders.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and financial systems experience.
• Eligibility for membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
• Current driver’s licence.

Job description

Our government client is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their Financial Services team on a temporary basis. Based in Yeppoon and starting ASAP, the role will be for an initial 6 months with possible extension to 30 June 2027. Working 38 hours per week, the casual hourly pay rate will be from $67 to $78 plus super (negotiable depending on experience).

About the Role

This is a great opportunity for an accountant who enjoys variety and working across the broader finance function. The role offers exposure to financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, management accounting, governance, business partnering, taxation, financial systems and process improvement.

A key part of the role is business partnering, working with managers to analyse budget performance, provide decision support and promote financial accountability. You will also contribute to improving financial processes and systems.

About You

We’re looking for a qualified accounting professional with:

• Previous experience in financial accounting, including financial reporting and budgeting;
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation;
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills;
• The ability to build effective relationships with managers and stakeholders;
• Strong Microsoft Excel and financial systems experience;
• Eligibility for membership of a recognised professional accounting body; and
• A current driver’s licence.

TechnologyOne experience will be highly regarded.
