Job summary

Thomas Executive Pty Limited invites applications for a Financial Accountant to join our growing property development business. Reporting to the CFO, the role covers month-end, statutory compliance, budgeting and forecasting, and system improvements across multiple entities and projects.

The successful candidate will support financial management for development projects and corporate entities, ensuring accuracy and integrity of the finance function.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant/Business Services role.
• Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation compliance.
• Experience preparing financial statements and management reports.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using cloud-based accounting systems.
• Exposure to property development, construction or related project-based environment.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills with internal stakeholders.
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and assist with year-end financial reporting.
• Complete month-end close, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Perform balance sheet, bank and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS returns.
• Assist with income tax, FBT and statutory compliance obligations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and group financial reporting.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and financial records.
• Assist in documenting finance processes and strengthening internal controls.
• Support ERP system improvements and finance process optimisation.
• Work closely with the CFO on financial and commercial initiatives.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a broad Financial Accountant position offering exposure well beyond traditional financial reporting.

You’ll play an integral role in maintaining the integrity of the finance function while supporting the financial management of multiple development projects and corporate entities.

This is a hands-on position where you’ll be involved in everything from month-end reporting and statutory compliance through to budgeting, forecasting, process improvement and financial systems.

• Approximately 2 to 5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant or Business Services role
• Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation compliance

• Advanced Excel skills and experience using cloud-based accounting systems
• Exposure to property development, construction or a related project-based environment
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with a range of internal stakeholders
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
