Job summary

Field Mining Services is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Mackay, Queensland. You will support day-to-day financial accounting across the Group, ensuring accurate records and robust month-end processes, reporting and compliance.

You will manage general ledger entries, journals, reconciliations and intercompany activity, while partnering with Accounts Payable/Receivable and operational stakeholders to improve financial controls and overall reporting quality.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance or related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualification completed or in progress.
• Experience in financial accounting, general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
• Strong month-end close experience and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany and GST.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate and complete general ledger records.
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals, prepayments, allocations and reclassifications.
• Supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes.
• Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigating accounting anomalies, coding issues and unreconciled balances.
• Supporting AP/AR with accounting and system issues.
• Maintaining fixed asset records and depreciation.
• Preparing and reconciling intercompany accounts.
• Supporting BAS/GST, audit and statutory reporting requirements.
• Managing day-to-day cashbook and bank reconciliation activities.
• Preparing and maintaining cashflow forecasts.

FMS Group is looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team and play an important role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records and supporting the Group's month-end, reporting and financial accounting functions.

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support the day-to-day financial accounting function across the Group, ensuring our financial records are accurate, complete and well supported.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining accurate and complete general ledger records.
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals, prepayments, allocations and reclassifications.
• Supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes.
• Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigating accounting anomalies, coding issues and unreconciled balances.
• Supporting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable with accounting and system issues.
• Maintaining fixed asset records and depreciation.
• Preparing and reconciling intercompany accounts.
• Supporting BAS/GST, audit and statutory reporting requirements.
• Managing day-to-day cashbook and bank reconciliation activities.
• Preparing and maintaining short- and medium-term cashflow forecasts.
• Identifying opportunities to improve Finance processes, systems and controls.
• Providing financial accounting support to the Financial Controller and broader Finance team.

About You

You're a detail-focused accounting professional who takes ownership of your work and enjoys solving problems.

You will ideally bring:

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualification completed or in progress.
• Experience in financial accounting, general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
• Strong month-end close experience.
• Sound knowledge of journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany and GST.
• Experience supporting AP and AR teams with accounting and transactional issues.
• Strong Excel and ERP systems skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Finance and operational stakeholders.

Experience in mining services, construction, engineering, manufacturing or the resources sector will be highly regarded.
