Agri Labour Australia Pty is seeking a Financial Accountant to lead month-end reporting for two subsidiaries and support the main entity's close. You will oversee internal payroll, ensure statutory compliance, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting across multiple entities.

The role requires 7+ years in accounting, strong Excel skills, and experience with MYOB/Xero. Hybrid work arrangement and a pet-friendly office are offered in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong experience across month-end close, journals, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Sound working knowledge of payroll and statutory compliance.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
• Experience with MYOB and/or Xero preferred.
• CPA or CA qualification highly regarded; applicants working towards are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Complete month-end accounting for two subsidiary entities, including balance sheet reporting.
• Support the month-end close for the main entity, including accruals, prepayments and journals.
• Contribute to forecasting, cashflow reporting and the annual budgeting process for subsidiaries.
• Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis to support business decisions.
• Oversee fortnightly payroll for approximately 100 staff.
• Assist with PAYG, BAS (weekly, monthly and quarterly) and Payroll Tax lodgements, and annual reconciliations.
• Complete PALM scheme payroll vs GL reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and report status.
• Produce overhead reporting through Excel and dashboards.
• Assist with year-end close and annual audit preparation.

About the Role

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to support the Agri Labour Australia and Health Plus People businesses. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will own month-end reporting for our subsidiary entities, contribute to the month-end close for the main entity, and provide the analysis and insight that helps the business make informed decisions. You will also oversee internal payroll and support statutory compliance and PALM scheme reconciliations across multiple entities.

This is a role for someone who enjoys building strong relationships across a business, understands the commercial drivers behind the numbers, and takes pride in accurate, timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete month-end accounting for two subsidiary entities, including balance sheet reporting
• Support the month-end close for the main entity, including accruals, prepayments and accounting journals
• Contribute to forecasting, cashflow reporting and the annual budgeting process for the subsidiaries
• Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis to support business decisions
• Oversee fortnightly payroll for approximately 100 internal staff
• Assist with PAYG, BAS (weekly, monthly and quarterly) and Payroll Tax lodgements, and annual reconciliations
• Complete PALM scheme payroll versus general ledger reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and report on reconciliation status
• Produce overhead reporting through Excel and dashboards
• Assist with year-end close and annual audit preparation

About You

• 7+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role
• Strong experience across month-end close, journals, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting
• Sound working knowledge of payroll and statutory compliance
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (essential)
• Experience with MYOB and/or Xero
• High attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
• CPA or CA qualification is highly regarded; candidates who are working towards or willing to pursue a qualification are encouraged to apply
