Job summary

Category 5 Labour Management is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in Perth on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will support daily accounting operations, reconciliations, month-end processes and financial reporting under the supervision of the Financial Controller.

This hands-on role offers variety and a clear path to develop your accounting skills within a supportive, fast-paced, Australian-owned business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting/finance.
• CA/CPA qualification or in progress is desired.
• Minimum 2 years in an Assistant Accountant/Accounts Officer or similar role.
• Solid Excel skills.
• Experience with Xero or similar accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Run daily bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journals; balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist month-end close and financial reporting.
• Process invoices and employee expense claims.
• Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions.
• Assist with annual audits and supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare ad hoc reports for the Financial Controller.

Category 5 Labour Management is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team on a 12-month contract. Working closely with the Financial Controller, you will support daily accounting operations, reconciliations, month-end processes and financial reporting. This hands‑on role offers plenty of variety and a great opportunity to further develop your accounting skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete daily bank and credit card reconciliations
• Prepare and post journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with month-end close and financial reporting
• Process invoices and employee expense claims
• Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions
• Assist with annual audits and supporting documentation
• Maintain accurate financial records
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for the Financial Controller

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive and confident working with numbers, systems and deadlines.

To be successful, you will have:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• CA/CPA qualification or currently working towards it
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar role
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with Xero or similar accounting software
• Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
• Strong communication and time management skills
• A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team
