Job summary

Desky in Brisbane seeks a seasoned accounting leader to own the accounting engine room for two high-volume ecommerce brands across Australia, USA, Canada and Europe. You will drive month-end and year-end processes, maintain Cin7 Core and Xero alignment, and report to a CFO invested in your development.

The role offers real responsibility, direct exposure to a CFO, and a path to influence growth while building scalable finance systems.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years' experience in a high volume inventory-driven ecommerce business.
• Advanced skills in Shopify, Cin7 Core and Xero.
• Strong Excel skills (XLOOKUP and Pivot tables).
• Practical experience processing tax across multiple jurisdictions (AU BAS at minimum).
• Experienced in mentoring finance staff and leading teams.

Responsibilities

• Own inventory and ecommerce accounting for two brands across currencies.
• Investigate and correct discrepancies between sub ledgers and GL.
• Run month-end close: reconciliations, accruals and group reporting.
• Monitor cash flow and manage bank balances and inter-company workflows.
• Oversee vendor invoices, fraud controls and tax lodgements.

Job description

To own the accounting engine room for two high volume ecommerce brands, across Australia, USA, Canada and Europe.

You'll drive the month end and year end processes and reporting, freeing the CFO to focus on European growth and broader strategic priorities. This gives you scope to make the role your own.

Over the last year we've built the systems, controls and processes behind our financials, plus a team of two. Now we need someone sharp and reliable to lead it. You'll get direct exposure to a CFO who wants to invest in your development and hand over real responsibility.

Together, this is an interesting group to work in: multiple brands, multiple entities, multiple currencies, sizeable inventory, international stock purchases, significant sales volume and a finance function that's expanding as the business scales. Key responsibilities

Own inventory and ecommerce accounting keeping Cin7 Core (inventory sub ledger) in sync with Xero, matching stock purchase payments, and maintaining oversight of Shopify (sales sub ledger) control accounts

Investigate and correct root-cause discrepancies between sub ledgers and the general ledger

Run month-end close: reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and Group reporting

Monitor daily cash flow and credit card balances, flag anomalies and clear balances to savings accounts

Spot-check stock invoices against supporting documentation, investigate quote-to-invoice variances, and prepare payment files for approval

Maintain accurate books in Xero across seven group entities, with your team and our Mayday inter-company tool

Perform verbal verification on new vendor bank details as part of fraud prevention controls

Sales tax lodgements for all entities, income taxes done through agents and fortnightly payroll sign off

Manage the work output from your two direct reports

About you

4-6 years' experience in a high volume inventory-driven ecommerce business

Advanced skills in Shopify, Cin7 Core (or similar inventory and sales systems) and Xero

Strong Excel skills, such as XLOOKUP and Pivot tables.

Practical experience processing tax across multiple jurisdictions. AU BAS at minimum and exposure to US, Canadian or European tax would be a plus

Comfortable with complex DR/CR accounting entries and curiosity for tracking down discrepancies

You've managed finance team members who have good things to say about you.

Meticulous attention to detail, proactive approach to problem-solving, and strong fiscal awareness

Working towards or have a CA / CPA or equivalent qualification
