Job summary

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Mackay is seeking a Finance Officer to manage financial administration on a term-time continuing basis, 32 hours per week, commencing as soon as possible. This role requires discretion, confidentiality, and a strong grasp of financial processes.

The successful applicant will support senior management, prepare budgets and reports, and contribute to efficient financial operations within the school community.

Qualifications

• Understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and to take direction.
• Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic educational setting.
• Tertiary qualifications at Certificate level or equivalent knowledge, qualifications and experience would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Practising confidentiality in relation to all aspects of the role.
• Providing administrative support to senior management of the school where discretion and judgement are required, including: initiating and handling correspondence (which may include confidential correspondence); monitoring telephone calls; and establishing and/or maintaining working filing systems.
• Within a variety of routines, methods and procedures providing significant assistance in the preparation and analysis of; financial information to trial balance; budgets; profit and loss reports; balance sheet reports; trading activity reports; cash management analysis; purchasing control procedures, prepare monthly summaries of debtors and creditors ledger transactions and reconciliations.
• Applying knowledge of advanced functions of computer software packages and managing data.
• Training staff classified at lower levels by means of personal instruction and demonstration.
