Job summary

Sharp & Carter currently has a temporary Finance Officer opportunity in the Northern Brisbane suburbs. The role encompasses general accounting, payroll and finance administration within a supportive team environment.

You will report to the Finance Manager and handle tasks across month-end processes, reconciliations and payroll for 100+ employees. Responsibilities include journals, fixed asset register, payroll tax, balance sheet packs, and AP/AR support.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a general accounting or Finance Officer position.
• Experience across month-end, reconciliations and general accounting processes.
• Previous payroll experience, ideally with exposure to end-to-end payroll processes.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including intermediate Excel.
• High level of accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
• A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
• Strong customer service skills and a professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Complete month-end journals including prepayments, accruals and intercompany recharges.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including monthly reconciliations and depreciation journals.
• End to end Payroll for up to 100+ employees.
• Prepare, lodge and process monthly payroll tax and annual returns.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation packs.
• Manage credit card reconciliations and staff expense claims.
• Provide support across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
• Prepare monthly timesheet summaries and wages allocations.
• Process monthly payroll and lodge monthly superannuation contributions.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records.
• Complete end-of-year payroll reconciliations and reporting.
• Provide reception and general administrative support as required.
• Assist with the continuous improvement of finance procedures, systems and processes.
• Support the wider team with ad hoc finance and administrative duties.
