FluidPro Pty Ltd in Sydney is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own our finance, HR and compliance functions. This hands-on role reports to the directors and offers autonomy to strengthen systems as the business grows.

You will manage AP/AR, stock, payroll, BAS, and payroll tax, while delivering monthly management reports and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has Australian payroll knowledge and CPA/CA membership.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Financial Controller or senior accountant.
• Hands-on HR management in a SMB environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll, GST, BAS and payroll tax obligations.

Responsabilités

• Manage end-to-end accounts payable, including processing and coding supplier invoices and running payment runs.
• Manage end-to-end accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, collections and overdue accounts.
• Oversee stock control, including stock levels, costing, reconciliation and stocktakes.
• Prepare monthly management reports for the directors, with commentary on results, cash flow, margins and trends.
• Prepare and lodge BAS and payroll tax, and liaise with the external accountant on year-end processes.
• Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act and applicable Modern Awards, and maintain internal controls.

We're looking for an experienced, trustworthy Financial Controller to take full ownership of our finance, HR and compliance functions. You'll keep the numbers accurate, the stock under control, our people well supported and the business compliant, while keeping the directors well informed. This is a hands-on role with real autonomy, reporting directly to the company directors, and the right person will have the opportunity to strengthen our systems and controls as the business grows.

Key responsibilities

Finance

• Manage the end-to-end accounts payable function, including processing and coding supplier invoices and running payment runs
• Ensure invoices are accurately matched against purchase orders, goods received and supporting documentation before payment
• Liaise directly with suppliers regarding invoices, payments, account queries, pricing and discrepancies
• Maintain accurate supplier records and ensure new supplier setups are completed appropriately
• Assist with purchasing and procurement activities, including raising purchase orders and obtaining supplier quotes
• Work with internal stakeholders to ensure purchasing is appropriately authorised and aligned with business requirements
• Manage the end-to-end accounts receivable function, including customer invoicing, collections and following up overdue accounts
• Oversee stock control, including stock levels, costing, reconciliation and stocktakes
• Prepare monthly management reports for the directors, with commentary on results, cash flow, margins and trends
• Prepare and lodge BAS and payroll tax, and liaise with the external accountant on year-end processes

Payroll and HR

• Process fortnightly payroll, including timesheets, leave, superannuation and STP reporting
• Manage all areas of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, employment contracts, personnel records, leave management, performance reviews and employee relations
• Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, applicable Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards

Compliance and governance

• Oversee company compliance obligations, including taxation, superannuation, insurance, workers compensation and regulatory reporting
• Support workplace health and safety compliance, including record keeping and incident reporting
• Maintain and improve policies, procedures, financial processes and internal controls

Reporting

• Report directly to the directors, providing timely and honest advice on the financial, people and compliance health of the business

About you

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounts Manager or senior accountant, ideally within a manufacturing, engineering or trade-based business
• Hands-on experience managing HR functions in a small to medium business, with a sound working knowledge of Australian employment law and Modern Awards
• Strong working knowledge of Xero (or similar cloud accounting software) and payroll processing
• Experience with stock control, inventory costing and reconciliation
• Solid understanding of Australian payroll, superannuation, GST, BAS and payroll tax obligations
• Understanding of workplace health and safety and workers compensation requirements
• Confident with Excel and comfortable using a CRM (we use Zoho)
• Excellent attention to detail, with the discipline to meet deadlines every month
• Clear, direct communicator who is comfortable being accountable to the directors
• Discreet and trustworthy, with a high level of integrity when handling sensitive financial and personnel information
• Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or HR, and CPA, CA or AHRI membership (or working towards), are highly regarded
