Safe Work Australia is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to help deliver accurate, timely and compliant financial services across the agency.
Working under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Finance, you’ll undertake a range of financial management and accounting activities, including monitoring transactions, preparing month-end journals and reconciliations, helping maintain finance systems, and contributing to process improvements. You’ll also support budgeting and forecasting, and contribute to monthly reporting and the annual financial statements.
This role suits someone who enjoys variety. You'll work with budget holders across the agency, our external service providers, auditors and central agencies. As we are a small team, you may also be asked to pick up tasks outside your usual duties that are within your capabilities, which is a great way to build broad finance experience early in your career.
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS), unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise in writing.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
Successful applicants will be required to complete an Australian Federal Police criminal history check.
