Job summary

St John the Apostle Primary School, part of the Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Education Limited, seeks a part-time financial administrator to manage invoices, payments and records. You will handle fee enquiries, negotiate payment plans, and maintain communications with families while supporting budgeting and reporting for the school's Finance, Business, and Administrative teams.

Eligibility requires Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Qualifications

• Must have strong financial management skills and experience in budgeting and accounting.
• Experience with invoices, payments, and financial records preferred.
• Compliance with school financial policies and reporting is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage school's finances including invoices, payments and records.
• Issue invoices and statements; handle fee enquiries and payment plans.
• Liaise with families to resolve payment issues and work with debt collection agencies as needed.
• Support financial reporting, budgeting and administrative functions for Finance, Business and Admin teams.

Salary Range: $88,230 full-time equivalent plus superannuation
Employment Status: Part-time | 45.6 hours per fortnight

About the Role

You will have the opportunity to manage the school's finances which includes accurate processing of invoices, payments and financial records. You will be responsible for issuing invoices and statements, handling fee‑related enquiries, negotiating payment plans, and maintaining detailed communication records. The role also involves liaising with parents and guardians to resolve payment issues, working with debt collection agencies, and ensuring compliance with financial policies. Additionally you will support financial reporting, budgeting, and administrative functions, contributing to the smooth operation of the school's Finance, Business, and Administrative teams.

Qualifications and Eligibility

• Professional Memberships as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a Chartered Accountant (CA) will be highly desired
• Tertiary qualifications in finance and/or accounting
• ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance
• Accreditation in accordance with Work Teach and Lead in Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn policy

This position involves working with children. Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child‑related employment.
