Job summary

PPK Mining Equipment, a mining equipment manufacturer, is seeking a Finance Manager to lead the finance team, collaborate with branch and manufacturing managers, and oversee budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis. The role combines management reporting with statutory compliance and ERP optimisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field and a current CA or CPA qualification.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, business unit and consolidated reporting.
• Budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and risk analysis skills.
• Knowledge of statutory reporting, tax returns and payroll processing.
• Experience with large ERP systems and the Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Prepare timely management reports and commentary with analysis of price, volume, production, recovery and overhead variances.
• Support budgets for consolidation, update revenue and expense forecasts and assess emerging risks.
• Report on stock balances, ageing and obsolescence, WIP margins and labour utilisation; coordinate stocktakes.
• Prepare and review annual and half-yearly statutory reports and review BAS, PAYG, payroll tax and FBT returns.
• Model capital expenditure and other business cases; liaise on supplier payments and payroll discrepancies.
• Mentor the finance team, support ERP training and upgrades, drive cost savings and process improvements.

Verbe Partners is partnering with PPK Mining Equipment to appoint a Finance Manager who brings strong technical accounting skills, sound commercial judgement and a practical approach to supporting operational performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll lead and mentor the finance team and work closely with branch and manufacturing managers to understand performance and support business decisions.

This hands-on role combines management and statutory reporting with budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis. You’ll help managers understand margins, monitor operational efficiency and identify opportunities to improve results.

You’ll also support capital expenditure business cases and improve how the business uses its ERP system.

Key Responsibilities

• Management reporting and analysis: Prepare timely monthly reports and commentary, including price, volume, production, recovery and overhead variances.
• Budgeting and forecasting: Support branch and manufacturing budgets for consolidation, update revenue and expense forecasts and assess emerging risks.
• Costing, inventory and WIP: Report on stock balances, ageing and obsolescence, work in progress margins and timing, and labour and workshop utilisation. Coordinate stocktakes.
• Statutory reporting and compliance: Prepare and review annual and half-yearly statutory reports and review BAS, PAYG, payroll tax and FBT returns.
• Business support: Model capital expenditure and other business cases, liaise on supplier payment allocations and assist with payroll discrepancies.
• Team leadership and systems: Mentor the finance team, support ERP training and upgrades, manage related projects and drive cost savings and process improvements.

About You

You’ll bring proven experience as a Finance Manager or in a similar role, with strong technical accounting capability and a practical understanding of business operations. You’re comfortable explaining financial results, supporting managers and developing the people around you.

We’re looking for:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field and a current CA or CPA qualification
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, business unit and consolidated reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and risk analysis skills
• Knowledge of statutory reporting, tax returns and payroll processing and reviewExperience with large ERP systems and the Microsoft Office suite
• Clear communication and presentation skills, attention to detail and practical problem-solving
• Strong leadership and organisational skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
• Mining, manufacturing or OEM experience will be highly regarded.
