Job summary

Perigon Group is seeking a capable finance professional to step into a Finance Manager role within our client’s North Brisbane operation. You will lead a small finance team, remain hands-on with month-end, reporting, audit and tax duties, and mentor staff to build capability.

The role requires CA or CPA qualification and strong technical accounting background, with proven leadership and communication skills to drive improvements and ensure compliance across BAS, GST and payroll tax.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager Finance, this is an excellent opportunity for an up-and-coming finance professional looking to take the next step into a Finance Manager position.

The role combines strong technical accounting responsibilities with the day-to-day leadership of a small finance team. You will remain hands-on across month-end, financial reporting, audit, taxation and balance sheet management, while also taking responsibility for coaching, mentoring and developing the team.

This is particularly well suited to a technically strong Senior Financial Accountant or emerging Finance Manager who has already gained exposure to supervising, training or mentoring others and is now ready to take greater ownership of a finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close, including journals, reconciliations, management accounts and financial analysis
• Oversee the day-to-day activities of the finance team, providing technical guidance and setting priorities
• Coordinate statutory compliance including BAS, GST, FBT, payroll tax and external audit requirements
• Coach, mentor and develop team members while building accountability and capability
• Drive improvements across finance processes, reporting, systems and internal controls

About You

• CA or CPA qualified, or nearing completion
• Strong technical accounting background, ideally from a Senior Financial Accountant, emerging Finance Manager or similar role
• Demonstrated experience with month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, audit and Australian taxation requirements
• Previous exposure to leading, supervising, training or mentoring finance staff
• Confident communicator with strong organisational skills and the desire to develop into a well-rounded Finance Manager

This role is based in the client's North Brisbane office and requires someone who is comfortable working five days per week in the office.
