Story Fresh, a growing family business outside Toowoomba, seeks a Finance Manager to oversee accounting, reporting and governance. Based at Cambooya, you will manage day-to-day finance activities, ensure compliance with Australian standards, and implement strong controls to support sustainable growth.

You will lead planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, mentor staff, and collaborate with the team to drive efficiency and profitability in the fresh food sector.

Qualifications

• CPA/CA or equivalent professional qualification preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage the accounting and finance functions across the business
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports

Job description

Story Fresh is seeking a motivated, experienced Finance Manager to assist with the financial management of an expanding, innovative family business, based just outside Toowoomba at Cambooya. This role has responsibility for the integrity of the financial reporting functions whilst overseeing day-to-day finance activities, requiring both strong technical accounting skills and sound commercial application. It will require the ability to manage competing priorities and achieve effective work outcomes in a growing business.

The role involves:

managing the accounting and finance functions

preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports

ensuring compliance with all Australian accounting standards and legal and statutory requirements

implement and maintain strong and effective internal controls

responsible for financial governance

financial forecasting, key business trends, cost analysis and KPI performance

input into continuous improvement strategies in efficiency, productivity and profit drivers with a practical, improvement-focused approach

monitor financial performance against budget, and

other administrative functions as required

The ideal candidate will have:

preferably a Bachelor in Accounting, Finance, and/or Commerce

CPA, CA or equivalent professional qualification

strong technical accounting background ideally from a Senior Financial Accountant, emerging Finance Manager or similar role but comfortable being hands-on

varied experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis in a commercial context

preferably familiar with Microsoft DynamicsNAV, Quickbooks, MYOB and XERO with advanced Microsoft Excel skills

capable of providing support in accounts payable, revenue and purchasing functions and payroll

excellent communication and mentoring skills

strong attention to detail, commitment to accuracy and not cutting corners

willingness to contribute as part of a team in a busy and dynamic family business
