Job summary

Exclaim IT is seeking an experienced Finance Lead to support a major Tier 1 program for a Federal Government client in Canberra. You will provide strategic financial leadership, governance and oversight across budgets, asset management, project accounting and external submissions.

You will lead a small finance team, develop financial policies and controls, and partner with senior executives to drive strategic financial decisions across the reform program.

Qualifications

  • More than five years analysing and managing large, complex Tier 1 program budgets.
  • Experience delivering internal and external management accounting and project accounting.
  • Experience leading a finance team and overseeing program finances.
  • Experience in capital asset management and year-end financial reporting.
  • Experience developing internal accounting policies in line with accounting standards.
  • Strong ability to analyse large datasets and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, collaboration and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to present financial information clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience supervising staff and identifying training needs.
  • Postgraduate qualifications and/or CPA/CA membership.

About the role

Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Finance Lead to support a major Tier 1 program.

Working closely with the Director of Finance, Planning and Reporting, you will provide strategic financial leadership, management and governance across a significant legislative reform program.

You will lead a small finance team responsible for internal budget management, asset management, project accounting and external budget submissions.

Key responsibilities

Desirable criteria
  • More than 20 years of accounting experience across government and private-sector environments.
  • Experience managing enterprise and project management accounting functions.
  • Experience managing general business and ICT budgets.
  • Experience supporting contract management and contract development.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and asset accounting practices.
  • Experience using enterprise financial accounting systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps, Adobe Acrobat Pro or other project management software.
Skills and experience
