DFP Recruitment is seeking a Finance Business Partner to support a busy public sector IT portfolio in Canberra. You will deliver high‑quality financial advice, project accounting support, and strategic insights across major IT initiatives.

Work closely with senior stakeholders and project leaders to ensure compliance with the Commonwealth framework, driving financial governance and performance in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Formal qualifications in accounting, finance or business OR significant public sector financial management experience.
• Experience as a Finance Business Partner or in financial/management reporting.
• Strong background in project accounting — IT and government preferred.
• Confident technical skills in accounting theory and management accounting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leaders.
• Leadership, organisation and ability to deliver under tight timeframes.

We’re seeking an experienced professional who brings strong technical capability, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to partner with senior stakeholders to work with one of our most respected Federal Government agencies. This is a 12month contract with possibility of extension.

About the Role

The successful candidate will bring:

• CA or CPA qualified or currently studying.
