Job summary

Heritage Minerals is seeking a Financial Controller to be the financial heartbeat of our Queensland operations, reporting to the CFO. You will oversee month-end close, statutory reporting, and regulatory compliance while partnering with leaders to drive efficiency and profitability.

With CPA/CA qualification and 7+ years in mining or a related field, you will lead a high-performing finance team, enhance internal controls, and implement automation to support sustainable growth and stakeholder

Qualifications

  • CPA or CA qualification with a strong technical accounting background.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within mining, resources, or heavy industry.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, IFRS, and mining regulations.
  • Proven track record in managing month-end close, statutory reporting, and compliance obligations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop finance team members.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, or similar).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and IFRS.
  • Ensure compliance with mining regulatory reporting requirements, including royalties, environmental levies, and safety-related financial disclosures.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure governance standards.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, providing variance analysis and insights to the CFO and teams.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset registers for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Partner with operational leaders to provide financial insights that drive cost control, productivity, and profitability.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators to ensure smooth audits and compliance reviews.
  • Implement process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline financial operations.

What You'll Do
