Job summary

Endeavour Group in Sydney is seeking a Commercial Finance Business Partner – Retail Operations (Retail Wages) to lead wage budgeting and reporting for BWS and Dan Murphy’s, and to drive cost-to-performance across WA, SA, and NT.

You will partner with Store Operations State Leadership, deliver weekly and monthly reports, provide insights, and coach the broader Finance and Operations teams while ensuring end-to-end financial compliance and strong process improvement.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive finance experience with CA/CPA preferred.
• Deep understanding of commercial and operational performance drivers within large-scale retail.
• Ability to translate complex data into clear strategic actions for senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Act as financial leader for WA/SA/NT State Leadership teams, boosting like-for-like sales and efficiency.
• Oversee store labour costs across BWS and Dan Murphy’s, leading wage budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
• Deliver timely, clear, and actionable weekly/monthly reporting, cohort/demographic analyses, and competitor insights that translate numbers into store network wins.
• Partner closely with teams to ensure store wage impacts are understood and budgets remain accurate and robust.
• Coach and mentor across Endeavour Finance and Operations, continuously simplifying processes.

We are looking for a commercial, data‑led Finance Business Partner – Retail Operations (Retail Wages) providing support of store labour costs across BWS and Dan Murphy’s.

In this key role, you will act as a trusted commercial partner to the Store Operations State Leadership team across WA, SA, and NT. You will blend commercial acumen with deep data insights to influence store performance, optimise cost per hour, and drive like‑for‑like sales and profitability. Supported by a Finance Analyst, you will own retail wage performance reporting, forecasting, and end‑to‑end financial compliance across the region.

• Act as the financial leader for the WA/SA/NT State Leadership teams, delivering strategic recommendations to boost like‑for‑like sales, store contribution, and operational efficiency.
• Oversee store labour costs across BWS and Dan Murphy’s, leading store wage budgeting, forecasting, and R&O tracking while analyzing key cost‑per‑hour and hours‑worked drivers.
• Deliver timely, clear, and actionable weekly/monthly reporting, cohort/demographic analyses, and competitor insights that translate complex numbers into store network wins.
• Partner closely with teams such as Simpler For Stores to ensure store wage impacts are understood and budgets remain accurate and robust.
• Manage month‑end tasks, accruals, journal reviews, and financial compliance across Retail Operations.
• Coach and mentor across Endeavour Finance and Operations, constantly identifying ways to simplify processes and improve ways of working.

What do we need from you

Now let’s talk about you:

• 7+ years of progressive finance experience with CA/CPA qualification preferred.
• Deep understanding of commercial and operational performance drivers within a large‑scale retail or store network environment.
• Proven ability to simplify complex financial concepts for senior operational leaders and influence decision‑making.
• Strong proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP, TeamOne, IBM, Google Sheets) with experience translating digital/tech data into tangible commercial outcomes.
• Authentic, curious, and collaborative approach with the courage to challenge the status quo and innovate
