Job summary

BDO Australia is seeking a Finance Business Partner to drive financial performance across a dynamic professional services practice. You will partner with business leaders, deliver insightful analysis, and guide budgeting, forecasting and reporting to support strategic decisions.

You'll build financial models, manage management accounts, monitor variance, and develop reporting frameworks while strengthening the finance partnering capability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • CA, CPA or CIMA qualification (or equivalent).
  • At least five years' experience in management accounting, financial analysis, or a similar business partnering role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate complex information into practical recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Experience with Excel, Power BI, and Power Query.
  • Professional services experience is highly regarded.

About the Role

Join our Finance team as a Finance Business Partner and play a key role in driving financial performance across a dynamic and growing professional services organisation. This is an opportunity to move beyond the numbers and become a trusted advisor, partnering with business leaders to provide insightful analysis, meaningful reporting, and strategic financial guidance.

Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you'll help shape business decisions through robust financial planning, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and data-driven insights. You'll identify opportunities for improvement, enhance reporting frameworks, and contribute to the ongoing development of our business partnering capability.

In this role, you will:

About You

You're a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys building relationships and influencing outcomes through data and insight. You thrive in a collaborative environment, are naturally curious, and have a passion for helping businesses make informed decisions.

You'll bring a combination of technical expertise, business partnering experience, and strong stakeholder management skills, allowing you to confidently engage with leaders across all levels of the organisation.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CA, CPA or CIMA qualification (or equivalent).
  • At least five years' experience in management accounting, financial analysis, or a similar business partnering role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate complex information into practical recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to influence and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including experience with Power Query.
  • Experience with Power BI, or a genuine interest in developing your reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Professional services experience will be highly regarded.
