Job summary

Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Department to engage a Finance Business Partner for a hybrid, contract role in Haymarket (Sydney CBD). The position supports budgeting, governance and financial reporting across multiple areas, providing advice and insights to drive informed decisions.

ASAP start with contract until 31/01/2027 and potential extension. NSW Public Sector experience and police check requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in accountancy, economics, commerce, finance or equivalent.
• Experience influencing and supporting implementation of financial governance and best-practice strategies.
• Experience budgeting, financial reporting, governance and risk management.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills.
• Ability to analyse financial information and provide practical recommendations.

Responsibilities

About the Position

The Finance Business Partner provides financial advice, reporting, analysis and recommendations to support informed business decisions. The role supports budgeting, financial governance, performance monitoring and stakeholder engagement across multiple business areas.

Duties

• Provide financial advice, reporting, insights and recommendations to support business decision-making


• Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and finance subject matter experts


• Identify financial risks, issues and opportunities and support implementation of solutions


• Undertake financial investigations, research and analysis to support business objectives


• Monitor compliance with financial policies, governance frameworks and statutory requirements


• Support budget management, financial performance monitoring and variance analysis


• Deliver financial reports, data analysis and business insights


• Support implementation of new financial processes and continuous improvement initiatives

• Contribute to wider finance activities and departmental priorities

Requirements/Skills

• Tertiary qualifications in accountancy, economics, commerce, finance or equivalent experience


• Experience influencing and supporting implementation of financial governance and best-practice financial strategies


• Knowledge of NSW Public Sector financial management policies, processes and regulatory requirements


• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills


• Ability to analyse financial information and provide practical recommendations and solutions


• Experience supporting budgeting, financial reporting, governance and risk management


• Ability to work collaboratively across business units and provide trusted financial advice


• Strong analytical, problem-solving and continuous improvement capabilities


• Previous NSW Government or broader public sector experience highly desirable


• Recent Police Check within 6 months or willingness to complete a Police Check


• Ability to provide two professional reference checks
