Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking an experienced Field Specialist for MWD/LWD and Directional Drilling to support onshore oil and gas drilling operations in Roma, Queensland. The role involves overseeing wellsite activities, providing technical leadership and mentoring junior field engineers, and ensuring safe, efficient delivery in line with customer requirements.

This 12-month contract features a FIFO roster (3 weeks on/2 weeks off).

Qualifications

3+ years' experience in MWD/LWD field operations.
Strong hands-on experience in directional drilling operations.
Experience operating downhole motors and Rotary Steerable Systems (RSS).
Proven ability to mentor or supervise junior field engineers.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate MWD/LWD and directional drilling operations at the wellsite.
Oversee projects from commencement through to successful completion, providing updates to customers and stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior field engineers.
Operate and support directional drilling equipment, including downhole motors and RSS.
Monitor, analyse and interpret MWD/LWD data to support drilling performance and resolve issues.
Troubleshoot complex downhole tool and drilling system issues.
Collaborate with customers and third-party service providers to deliver wellsite solutions.
Verify completed work and ensure all objectives are met.
Maintain accurate operational reporting and ensure compliance with standards.
