Job summary

Wabtec Brisbane is seeking a Field Services Specialist to support OHV electric drive systems across the region. This full-time role calls for visiting QLD/NSW sites, commissioning trucks, troubleshooting on site and remotely, and collaborating with distributors and mines to ensure top service quality.

Qualifications

• Travel up to 50% to QLD/NSW sites and WA for 2–3 weeks, max twice per year.
• Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent with Electrical Licenses.
• 5+ years post-trade service experience in mining or rail/defense/automotive.
• Knowledge of Electric Drive/Traction systems in mining or rail.
• Experience with mining equipment design and multi-location teams.
• Strong technical aptitude with engineering tools/software.
• Full C-class driver's license.
• Strong oral, written, interpersonal and leadership skills.

• Responsible for overall truck commissioning for the region.
• Supports troubleshooting on site and remotely for Wabtec drive systems.

• Attends and participates in daily/weekly/monthly meetings with customers and peers.
• Prepares and submits reports, presentations, and documents as required.
• Supports OEM/distributor activity and field tests for new product development.
• Provides product performance feedback and potential sales opportunities to the Support Team.
• Monitors project status and significant developments; communicates outcomes.
• Educates customers on troubleshooting, manuals, parts books & upgrades.

Who will you be working with?

You will be joining Wabtec's Equipment Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) system and services team.

How will you make a difference?

Field Services Specialist is responsible for providing field service, product technical support, fleet performance monitoring and commissioning of Mining Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) electric drive systems for the region. This includes the day-to-day management, prioritization and escalation of issues, and customer requests for the region. Key to success in the role is the establishment of a customer service excellence culture in the region and to position themselves as an indispensable resource to the customer & end user of the Wabtec OHV electric drive systems.

The mining field services team is distributed across multiple countries and regions and the Field Services Specialist will work collaboratively with peers in other regions. Due to the nature of the position, the successful candidate must be willing to travel domestically to facilitate commissioning of new systems and to cover team gaps as is needed.

Where is the position located?

This is a full-time role based in Brisbane, QLD.

What will your typical day look like?

• Embraces, displays, and advocates a zero-harm safety culture in all work undertaken within Wabtec, at customer service shops and mine sites.
• Ensures Customer Service excellence and conducts fieldwork in compliance with all applicable company, local, state and federal regulations.
• Responsible for overall truck commissioning for the region.
• Supports troubleshooting efforts on site & remotely for Wabtec drive systems.
• Acts as the service support point of contact for distributor(s) and/or mines operating Wabtec drive systems in the defined region Reports & escalates product quality, and warranty claims for the region.
• Attends and actively participates in internal & external daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with customers, peers, and management.
• Prepares and submits reports, presentations, and other documents as required.
• Supports OEM & distributor activity in the region (sales, troubleshooting, joint customer meetings) Supports field test activities in region for new product development.
• Provides product performance & potential sales opportunities to the Wabtec Support Team.
• Monitors and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments.
• Educates customers on troubleshooting, manuals, parts books & upgrades.

What do we want to know about you?

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to QLD & NSW sites + WA for a duration of2 to 3 weeks (maximum 2 times per year).
• Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent and hold a current NSW, QLD and WA Electrical License or willing to obtain the required License.
• 5 years’ post trade experience in a service position, preferably in the mining industry or in rail, marine, defense or automotive.
• Knowledge and experience of Electric Drive/Traction Systems used in surface mining applications or rail is highly regarded.
• Experience with mining equipment design and validation Experience with multi-location teams involved in design and validation activities.
• Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and software systems.
• Full C class driver’s license.
• Strong oral, written, interpersonal and leadership skills.
