Job summary

Queensland Government Clermont is seeking a permanent OO5 Ranger to lead a small ranger team and deliver practical conservation outcomes across national parks, conservation parks and State forests. You will plan and implement annual work programs, support fire and pest management, threatened species recovery, visitor management, compliance and infrastructure maintenance, including engagement with Traditional Owners.

This is a hands-on leadership role with regular travel and remote work.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supervising staff and fostering a positive team culture.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience planning and delivering operational programs or projects.
• Knowledge of natural resource management, fire management, pest management or related fields.
• Administrative skills including report writing, record keeping, budgeting and procurement.
• Experience operating and maintaining plant and equipment or ability to develop these skills.
• Confidence undertaking compliance and enforcement activities.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Willingness to support and promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Responsibilities

• Lead a ranger team to plan, coordinate and deliver annual work programs across national parks, conservation parks and state forests.
• Contribute to fire, pest, visitor and asset management, threatened species recovery and infrastructure maintenance.
• Engage with Traditional Owners, neighbouring landholders, volunteers and other government agencies.
• Travel, camp in varying conditions and work in remote locations; supervise budgets and procurement processes.
• Provide leadership, guidance and support to staff in semi-remote environments.
