Job summary

The Department of Justice is seeking a Sergeant to lead sheriff's officers, overseeing enforcement of court warrants and guiding field operations from Dandenong. You will travel, roster shifts, and may work weekends with overtime and travel responsibilities.

You will use your leadership and communication skills to coach your team, ensure safe and lawful enforcement, and maintain accurate records while improving processes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading sheriff's officers or similar enforcement teams.
• Certificate IV Court Operations (Compliance) and a current Victorian driver licence.
• Current bailiff appointment from the Sheriff of Victoria.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills to support an inclusive team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach your team to deliver safe, fair and lawful enforcement.
• Plan daily work and joint field operations with other agencies.
• Handle complex warrants, including collecting payments, seizing property and making arrests.
• Use clear communication to resolve conflict and respond to challenging behaviour.
• Manage safety risks, keep accurate records and improve work processes.
