Job summary

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania is seeking a Field Officer to maintain field centre infrastructure and facilities at the Lake St Clair field centre within World Heritage areas. You will contribute to safety, visitor enjoyment and conservation while working with a dedicated team in diverse outdoor tasks.

Permanent, full-time position, 76 hours per fortnight (minimum 60.80 hours by negotiation), based in Tasmania.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction and maintenance of buildings or recreation facilities.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain machinery, plant and equipment.
• Knowledge of fire suppression operations.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills; ability to supervise staff and volunteers.
• Enjoys outdoor, physical work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out plans and works programs to maintain field centre infrastructure and facilities.
• Manage sections of Walls of Jerusalem, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers and Lake St Clair National Parks.
• Perform firefighting tasks, track maintenance, wildlife management and asset upkeep.
• Support visitor safety and enjoyment through practical maintenance tasks.
