Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria is seeking casual Field Officers to supervise clients at community work sites across the South East Metro Region, including Dandenong. The role blends field and office tasks, with a focus on safety and rehabilitation.

Excellent communication and OH&S knowledge are essential, as is the ability to work weekends and travel across the region. The starting rate is $45.51 per hour plus weekend penalties, with a full driver’s licence required

Qualifications

• Experience communicating clearly with individuals and teams.
• Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices.
• Ability to build rapport and identify issues.
• Proven conflict management and problem-solving skills.
• Carpentry, handyman, gardening or painting skills preferred.
• Computer skills and written communication abilities.
• Valid full driving licence and ability to drive a 12-seater bus.
• Ability to work weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of clients at community work sites and programs.
• Perform site inspections, assess hazards and provide safety guidance.
• Maintain tools and equipment, and ensure repairs when needed.
• Induct, instruct and transport clients to partner sites.
• Drive a 12-seater bus with trailer and travel across the region.
• Work a mix of field and office-based duties, including reporting.
